| Frequently Asked Questions
Artwork Costs
These costs are based on straightforward re-setting of cards.
For instance: you have designed your own card in Word, Publisher,
Excel, etc. We cannot produce directly from these file formats
due to a number of reasons.
1. Graphics/logos embedded in these files are low-res (this keeps
the file sizes down) @ 72dpi. For best quality print we require
300dpi, which is why we ask for the graphic/logo to be supplied
separately in its native hi-res state.
2. Most people who are not familier with print production normally
supply their artwork as 1-up, (a single card on a sheet). We need
to plan cards at least 4-up (or more, depending on quantity required).
This 4-up layout then needs accurate crop/trim marks placed in
position.
3. Where artwork overlaps the edge of the card/letterhead/flyer etc. 3mm 'bleeds' have to be established which may prove to be too difficult for many users who are using non-professional software. If you are providing print-ready artwork then please ignore the
following artwork costs. Just take the print prices (found on
the relevant page) and add VAT. Delivery is normally free to one
UK address.

If you are providing print-ready artwork then the above costs can be ignored. |
As mentioned earlier, these artwork costs relate to straightforward
resetting and assume a suitable (where required) hi-res logo
has been supplied. If you think your artwork may entail more
work than this, e.g. your logo needs redrawing to a suitable
standard, then please do not hesitate to contact us for a
quotation. Click
here if you need a quotation.
If you are not sure whether your artwork is print-ready
or needs a little work then just email a copy < click

an answer. |
Why are Artwork costs shown separately?
If you've ordered cards, or any other stationery for that
matter, and have paid the artwork costs then decided to re-order
at a later date then, providing there are no changes to the artwork,
you would then need only to pay the standard print costs. If there are changes to the artwork the next time
you order, then we would only charge for the plate(s) that have
been affected. For instance, you may have a 3 colour card where
the logo is red & blue, but all other text is in black. If
you change something that only affects the text then you would
be charged for that film/plate only. (In this case the black plate
only).
In the costing
chart for business cards why do we list 200 cards then jump
to 500?
Basically 1 box = 200 cards.
500 cards would be spilt across 3 boxes.
Can I see samples of your work?
Certainly! Just telephone, fax or email us and we will gladly
send you relevant samples. You can also request samples < HERE >.
A new salesman has just joined our company. How soon can you
deliver?
We normally specify 7 working days to turn jobs around, (from
acceptance/approval of artwork proofs), but we do understand there
could be a desperate need for a quicker delivery. In these cases
we would endeavour to get the job to you as quickly as possible.
I've done my own design. Can I send it to you in Microsoft
Word?
Yes, but we would probably have to re-set it using our own professional layout program with
the relevant crop/trim marks. Please note: if you do decide to
send a Word file, you will need to save separately any graphics/logos
used. Microsoft Word embeds images as low-res (72dpi) so it is
important to give us the original separately. If sending any colour pics, these need to be converted from RGB to CMYK. We can do this for you at no cost.
Payment Terms - when do I pay and how?
Payment will need to be arranged before any work commences.
Once you have approved your artwork/design we will then proceed
to print and once the job is ready for despatch we will contact
you for your delivery details. The goods will then be immediately
despatched.
If paying by cheque then this would have to be received with
the order (please allow 7 days for clearance). We will not despatch
goods until the cheque has been cleared.
All major credit/debit cards are also accepted and this would
be the preferred payment if you are in a rush to receive your
goods.
